SPOKANE, Wash – Most soccer fans won’t get a chance to see a World Cup game up close this year. But Wednesday, hundreds of fans in Spokane got a chance to see Egypt’s World Cup team on the pitch.
Spokane is Egypt’s base camp for the event, which means they’re training here between matches.
Wednesday, they held an open practice at Gonzaga’s Luger Field.
Fans entered a lottery to get two tickets to watch the practice.
More than 4,000 people entered the lottery. 245 people were randomly selected to get two tickets each.
Egypt faces Belgium Monday in Seattle for its first game of the World Cup.
The Pharaoh’s roster features soccer legend Mohamed Salah.
The team is staying at Northern Quest Resort and Casino and training at Gonzaga during their time in Spokane.
