EUGENE, Ore. – The Washington State Cougars couldn’t overcome the Oregon Ducks’ outstanding pitching and fell 4-0 in the Eugene Regional winners’ bracket.
Oregon’s All-Big Ten pitcher Will Sanford threw 6.1 IP, one hit allowed, no runs, and 14 strikeouts in a dazzling performance. Luke Meyers answered with 7.1 IP, five hits, and one run with seven strikeouts.
The shutout loss is WSU’s first since falling to Oregon State at the beginning of April.
The Cougs aren’t done yet, as they face off against that same OSU team again in a loser-out game tomorrow.
