SPOKANE, Wash – Spokane firefighters made quick work of a fire Monday morning in a northeast Spokane tow yard.
Black smoke could be seen throughout the city around 10:00 Monday morning.
Spokane Fire says the fire was caused by a pile of scrap metal, including materials from old RVs being broken down and sorted for recycling.
Firefighters were initially concerned about flames spreading to a nearby building, but contained the fire to the pile.
Crews planned to remain on the scene for several hours Monday to expose and extinguish hot spots.
