PULLMAN, Wash. — Washington State University is limiting Greek events due to increases of people falling from heights and substance misuse.
WSU says it will be temporarily pausing social events with alcohol including formals and date functions.
WSU says the Greek community has seen an increase in safety-related incidents.
The pause is through at least March 8. Following that, events may be reinstated on a chapter-by-chapter basis if certain requirements are completed.
WSU says Greek chapters will need to submit new safety plans to mitigate fall risk from places like stairwells, balconies, and roofs. Chapters will also need to hold trainings for members focused on preventing falls among other safety initiatives.
