SPOKANE, Wash. — A man was arrested Sunday night after throwing rocks at several downtown businesses and allegedly a moving vehicle along Pacific and Washington streets.
Daniel Njogo was arrested just before 11 p.m. Sunday and charged with third-degree assault with a weapon or negligent injury. Police said he was released the following day.
Security camera footage from Emerald City Behavioral Health Clinic shows Njogo throwing rocks at windows before throwing a rock at a passing car. Police received multiple calls and arrested him soon after.
Cybil Ahmer, clinical director at the behavioral health clinic, was alerted by her security system.
“I was in bed and I got an alarm on my phone. I took a quick peek and saw that there was actual commotion, and I got in my car and headed here,” Ahmer said.
The clinic said Njogo was not associated with them as a patient. A Dutch Bros Coffee shop across the street was also damaged.
The clinic will file an insurance claim but plans to continue operating.
“We’re going to continue to work. Because, that’s what we do. And this will get fixed and we’ll continue to provide our services,” Ahmer said.
SPD says they did not receive a call from the driver whose car was targeted.
