GEORGE, Wash– A 53-year-old man from Ephrata died Sunday night when a car crossed the center line and hit his car head-on.
It happened at 5:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 18th on State Route 283, about 7 miles north of George, WA.
According to the Washington State Patrol, Alejandro Cartagena was traveling north on State Route 283 when a vehicle driven by 39-year-old Gerardo Diaz of Quincy crossed the center line and hit Cartagena’s vehicle.
Cartagena died at the scene.
Diaz was taken to a local hospital and charged with DUI and vehicular homicide.
The crash closed the road for several hours.
It is now open to traffic again.
