SPOKANE, Wash. — The city of Spokane and members of the Downtown Spokane Partnership Clean Team will spend Tuesday cleaning up paint that was thrown onto an Abraham Lincoln statue downtown.
The statue is a veterans memorial that sits at the corner of Monroe and Main. It was first unveiled on Veteran’s Day in 1930.
The city says it is believed to be the only major statue of Lincoln that depicts him in his commander’s uniform.
The Spokane Police Department asks anyone with information on the vandalism to call Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
