SPOKANE, Wash – Spokane author Jess Walter is getting the Netflix treatment.
The streaming service is turning Walter’s latest book So Far Gone into a series, with Walter on board as executive producer.
The book, released in June, tells the story about a journalist who goes off the grid in Stevens County. He then has to face civilization to save his grandchildren from their extremist father.
It takes place in Spokane, north Idaho and the woods of Eastern Washington.
“Jess Walter is one of the great American storytellers, and So Far Gone is a propulsive, deeply humane novel that feels both urgent and timeless,” executive producers Liz Garbus and Dan Cogan told Netflix.
Netflix has not released any information about the cast or when the series will debut.
