SPOKANE, Wash – Part of the beauty of Spokane’s south hill neighborhood is the abundance of ponderosa pine trees. That’s also what puts this area at risk during Spokane windstorms.
Eric Davidson was reminded of that again Tuesday morning when a neighbor’s pine tree fell across Bernard and onto his property.
“It wasn’t until the sun came up that we saw how big the tree was,” Davidson said.
Davidson is almost used to it by now.
He also had trees fall onto the property during the big windstorms in 2021 and 2015.
While past windstorms have caused more damage, he was lucky to escape with a damaged fence and scraped up siding this time.
“It’s almost surreal,” Davidson said. “And you really do count your blessings. I mean if that tree was aimed a little bit differently it could have easily gone into one of the bedrooms and so it really was a blessing that it missed it.”
Power was knocked out to the area for several hours.
