SPOKANE, Wash. – Washington State scored a 78-63 victory over Eastern Washington in the 509 Classic at Spokane Arena, snapping a five-game losing streak.
The Cougars jumped out to a fast start, using efficient shooting and active defense to build a 45-31 lead by halftime. WSU continued to answer every Eastern Washington push in the second half, keeping the Eagles from striking distance.
Wazzu shot over 50% from the floor and Emmanuel Ugbo led the way with 20 points. Eastern Washington struggled to find consistency on offense and finished under 40% shooting; Alton Hamilton IV led the way with 16 points.
The Cougs improved to 4-8 on the season and will return to Pullman to host Mercer on Saturday December 20 at 2 p.m.
The Eagles fell to 2-9 on the season and will go on the road to face Utah on Saturday December 20 at 4 p.m.
