CHENEY, Wash. – The Cheney Blackhawks completed a Railroad Rumble sweep over the Rogers Pirates to tip off the Greater Spokane League rivalry week.
Cheney girls basketball (2-4) won 31-14 over Rogers (1-4) in a defensive battle, and Blackhawks’ sophomore Jillian Hoover led in scoring with nine points.
For the boys game, Cheney took another win, 59-51, through Kade Adderlay’s 19 points. Hands Warrick paced Rogers with 13 points.
Both Cheney and Rogers, now 3-2 on the year, entered the night off wins.
Cheney also won the spirit competition through an elaborate Star Wars-themed night, filled with decorations, costumes and a full dance.
Cheney girls next host Gonzaga Prep on Thursday, Rogers girls are off until December 27 to play at St. George’s, Cheney boys travel to Pullman this Friday night, and Rogers boys also take Christmas and the New Year off, next playing January 2 at North Central.
