TWIN FALLS, Idaho – Two men from Washington face felony charges, accused of illegally taking a moose along the Idaho/Washington border.
Idaho Fish and Game says the men were charged December 11th.
The incident happened in late November near the town of Twin Lakes.
Investigators say a neighbor tipped them off when they heard two people acting suspiciously when discussing the animal.
Fish and Game officers found the men at the scene and determined they had a Washington moose tag but no tag for Idaho.
The animal was partially quartered, but the hide was still intact more than 24 hours after it was killed.
The moose was not salvageable and the edible parts were wasted.
The Kootenai County Prosecutor’s Office charged the men with felony unlawful take and waste of a bull moose as well as concealment of evidence.
Fish and Game did not release the names of the defendants, but said they would release more detail when the case is concluded.
