MEAD, Wash. — Christmas came early for the animals at Cat Tales Wildlife Center.
Lots of families came out on Sunday afternoon to watch Santa and his elves deliver gift boxes to the animals.
Just like your cats at home, the biggest present was the box itself.
“For most of them, they’re empty. For the big cats, because like all cats they love boxes so if they tear into them that’s fun. Once they have them, they’ll sit in them, pee in them, do all the cat things,” said Lisa Grey, the executive director of Cat Tales Wildlife Center.
Some of the other animals found treats in their gifts. Others played with sawdust flakes inside.
The people in attendance got to visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus for holiday pictures.
Grey said this event brings lots of families to the center in the winter, which is typically the slowest time of year. She says seeing new visitors is the best enrichment for the animals.
