SPOKANE, Wash. – At Gonzaga Prep, every practice is designed to build something bigger than the next game plan. Every rep, every moment and every ounce of effort feeds into a standard the Bullpups have carried with them all season long.
“We talk about loving each other all the time,” Head Coach Nathan Graham said. “We talk about servant leadership. Football is one of those sports that’s truly a team game. Where it takes not only 22 guys, but there’s 60 guys out there. It takes all 60 of those guys and we’re all out there to serve one another.”
This season, the Bullpups’ success goes well beyond their undefeated record. Their mission and identity as a program continue to drive them daily. For quarterback Sam Kincaid, that standard means more than football.
“It’s everything to me. I love football, I love all my guys, all my teammates. I love my coaches, and I love playing in front of my family,” Kincaid said.
In the run game, Jonah Keller has been a steady force, averaging more than 80-yards per contest. His motivation is rooted deeply in the support he receives off the field.
“It’s my family for sure,” Keller said. “My family are my biggest supporters; without them I would never be here. They push me through everything and they’re the only reason I’m here today.”
That collective strength shows up not just in moments of adversity, but on the scoreboard. Gonzaga Prep has moved as one all season, outsourcing opponents by an average of 31 points per game. While the results matter, the program’s foundation stretches far beyond the field.
“Hopefully those relationships last past December, or whenever we do finish playing the season, but they last forever,” Graham said. “That’s probably the biggest thing as far as what we do at Gonzaga Prep, those relationships with our community. It’s not just about the four years that they’re here, it’s about the rest of their life as well.”
With their standard, drive and mission leading the way, the Bullpups head into Saturday’s 1p.m. quarterfinal matchup as they host Graham-Kapowsin.
