SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A house went up in flames in Spokane Valley on Tuesday evening, according to Spokane Valley Fire Department.
Around 6 p.m. on August 19, SVFD responded to a reported garage fire at a house near 20th Avenue and Union Road in Spokane Valley.
When crews arrived, they found the house’s garage fully engulfed in flames and fire that had spread to the rest of the house, as well as the house next door.
Close to 15 firefighting vehicles responded to the level 3 alarm and were able to knock down the fire.
A 4 News Now crew at the scene said there appeared to be significant damage to both the house where the fire started and the roof of the neighboring house.
SVFD said one Spokane Valley firefighter was transported to the hospital for second-degree burns to his ears.
Fire crews will remain on the scene for several hours to mop-up any hotspots. Avista is also on scene tending to any potentially affected power lines.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
