SPOKANE, Wash. — A man was arrested on Wednesday following a months-long investigation for the sex trafficking of a teenager in the Spokane area.
According to the Spokane Police Department, the investigation into 38-year-old Taurean D. Jones began in January after detectives received a report from the State of Idaho about sex trafficking involving a young teenager.
SPD said Jones paid the victim for sex not only for himself but for others as well.
There was also evidence that Jones provided drugs and alcohol to coerce sex from the victim. SPD says that at times, Jones forced the victim into sex acts with the threat of a gun and physical violence.
Detectives also learned about a local business where some of the sex acts were alleged to have taken place.
A second victim was also found during the investigation.
Jones was taken into custody on Wednesday. After he was in custody, search warrants found a loaded gun and cocaine in Jones’ vehicle. SPD said the gun was listed as stolen.
Jones was booked into Spokane County Jail for promoting commercial sexual abuse of a minor, commercial sexual abuse of a minor, rape of a child, possession of a controlled substance, distribution to a minor, unlawful possession of a firearm, indecent exposure and possession of a stolen firearm.
SPD says counselors and child advocacy groups are working with the victim in this case.
