SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — A 15-year-old boy was arrested for crashing into a tree while suspected of being under the influence in Spokane Valley early Saturday morning.
According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office, the teen was driving with two other teenagers near North Bowdish Road and East Mission Avenue around 1:15 a.m. Saturday.
The teen’s SUV then left the road and crashed into a large tree.
When deputies arrived, they found two male and one female teenager at the scene of the crash. The driver ran but was taken into custody not long after.
SCSO says the 15-year-old driver and the other male teen showed signs of intoxication. All three teens were taken to the hospital, where the two teenage boys were medically cleared.
The driver was booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for vehicular assault, hit and run, obstructing law enforcement and driving without a license.
The other teenage boy was booked into the Spokane County Juvenile Detention Center for being a minor in possession of alcohol.
The teenage girl was released to her parent while receiving treatment for serious but not life-threatening injuries.
SCSO says impairment and speed appeared to be factors in this crash.
