SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. — Firefighters evacuated residents from an apartment building Monday evening as a brush fire threatened the Pine Valley Ranch complex.
The half-acre blaze broke out just after 6 p.m. July 15 near the Safeway at 32nd Avenue and Highway 27, directly behind the apartment building, according to Spokane Valley Fire Department (SVFD).
Crews arrived within minutes to find the fire burning through ground fuels with winds pushing flames toward the complex, fire officials said. By 6:20 p.m., firefighters had evacuated the closest building.
SVFD said the fire was contained within an hour. Residents returned home and no injuries were reported, according to the fire department.
The cause remains under investigation.
