SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The Spokane Fire Department is investigating the cause of suspicious fires that broke out Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Spokane Fire Department, firefighters were on scene of a suspicious brush fire burning along Cheney Spokane Road near the Spokane-Cheney Memorial Gardens.
While containing that fire, crews noticed a large plume of smoke about three miles away on W. Thorpe Road near Westwood Lane.
Firefighters responded to that location and found grass and brush burning.
Firefighters were able to get a handle on both fires and determined they were suspicious.
Investigators say a dark-colored Ford Ranger was seen in the area at the time of the fires and asking anyone with information to contact Crime Check at 509-456-2233.
