IDAHO COUNTY, Idaho – Law enforcement agencies rescued a woman who reported being kidnapped and held against her will after she sought help at a local business early Tuesday morning.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received a report at approximately 4:00 a.m. of a female in distress. The woman had entered a local business and told a cashier she needed help before leaving the scene.
An Idaho State Police trooper quickly located the woman and provided her with advice on how to escape what she described as a dangerous situation.
The woman reported that she had been drugged and transported from Oregon by a male suspect who resides locally. She said she had been held against her will at a residence in the area.
The Idaho State Police SWAT team arrested the male suspect without incident.
“This was a strong example of what can happen when agencies work together quickly and effectively,” ISP Lieutenant Darren Gilbertson said. “The safety of the victim was our top priority, and we’re proud of how all the involved personnel responded. Our investigation continues.”
The investigation remains ongoing.
