SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane County Medical Examiner says a 70-year-old man was killed in a crash near Newman Lake last week.
According to the ME, Mark Maier was driving north on North Idaho Road around 5 p.m. April 25.
Law enforcement officers say a vehicle in front of Maier was slowing to turn left when Maier drove into the opposing lane to pass. Deputies say Maier hit the vehicle making the turn.
Maier was ejected from his vehicle and his vehicle caught fire.
Maier was taken to the hospital where he later died.
The medical examiner says Maier died of blunt force trauma and the manner was accidental.
