STEVENS COUNTY, Wash. — A driver was killed when he hit a moose in the road north of Chewelah Monday.
According to Washington State Patrol, a 41-year-old Nathan Nordblad of Valley was driving north on Highway 395 near Kramer Road around 9 p.m.
WSP says Nordblad hit the moose and stopped on the shoulder. Troopers believe a second vehicle hit the moose carcass but did not stop at the scene.
Nordblad was taken to an area hospital where he died. A 37-year-old Chewelah woman was also in the car and life flighted to a Spokane hospital.
WSP says it is looking for the second vehicle involved and is asking anyone with information or who may have witnessed the crash to contact WSP.
