SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane business has fallen victim to an internal theft involving over $12,500 in stolen pull-tabs, which were redeemed using the names of an employee’s friends and family on the winning tickets, authorities said.
The Washington State Gambling Commission (WSGC) launched an investigation after the business’s pull-tab accounting service reported significant shortages from several games.
According to WSGC, Ashley Roberts, an employee of the business, was found to have opened numerous pull-tabs without payment in search of winning tickets, according to the WSGC.
Special agents conducted multiple interviews and concluded that the names on the winning tickets were used fraudulently.
Roberts has been charged with first-degree theft by the Spokane Prosecutor’s Office and was arraigned on April 2, 2025.
