SPOKANE, Wash – Called a “founder, force of nature, boss lady and guiding light”, Roast House coffee owner Deb Di Bernardo has passed away.
Di Bernardo was honored on the Roast House Facebook page, with a note that begins, “We lost a f*cking legend.”
The post says she passed away Sunday, surrounded by loved ones that included her beloved dog, Lucy.
“Deb was relentlessly dedicated to sustainable foods, organic coffee, supporting conservation, and caring for everyone in her life with incomprehensible generosity,” the post says.
Di Bernardo opened Roast House in 2010 and later opened First Avenue Coffee in downtown Spokane.
The Facebook post reads, “When we were painting the walls once, she wrote on them: ‘I may not change the world… but I can try!’ Damn, did she ever.” The post says she did not want a memorial service but instead asked for “an Irish Coffee Party with buckets of laughter and f-bombs.”
