COUER D’ALENE, Idaho — A federal judge has sentenced a San Francisco man to five years in prison for using thousands of dollars in counterfeit money in several states.
According to the Department of Justice, 40-year-old Clinton Curry went to a store in Post Falls and purchased $324 worth of goods in September of 2023.
Store employees discovered most of the money used was counterfeit and contacted law enforcement.
The U.S. Secret Service began an investigation and determined Curry used or attempted to use more than $40,000 in 46 separate incidents in state including Idaho, Oregon, Washington, and Montana.
A judge sentenced Curry to 60 months in federal, three additional years of supervised release, and ordered him to pay restitution.
