MOLINE, Ill. – The Washington State Cougar men’s basketball’s undefeated season comes to an end tonight with a 76-66 loss to the Iowa Hawkeyes, a game the Cougs led at halftime by three.
Wazzu snaps their win streak to start the season by slowing down it’s scorching start from scoring 100, 91 and 90 to just 66.
Despite the worse team offense, Nate Calmese continues to pace the Cougs well, scoring a team-high 27 points and adding a team-best three steals.
WSU’s poor 17.9% three point shooting and 18 turnovers doomed them, only making two of 15 three pointers and 11 total field goals in the second half.
This game in Moline, IL was the first in the Quad Cities for Iowa in 26 years and the first ever for Washington State.
The Cougs have a fast turnaround for their next game as they return home this Monday to host the Northern Colorado Bears at 6:30 p.m.
