POST FALLS, Idaho — A 13-year-old boy drowned in the Spokane River near Ironhorse Circle in Post Falls Saturday night.
According to the Post Falls Police Department, calls came in about a possible drowning in the river at about 9:30 p.m. Saturday.
Police say the teen had been swimming across the river when he was reported missing.
During the search for the 13-year-old, members of the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office Dive Team found the teen in the river.
He was immediately taken to the hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
The Post Falls Police Department wants to remind people recreating on the Spokane River that despite low water flows, the river can still be dangerous and personal floatation devices are highly recommended.
