SPOKANE, Wash. — Companies from across the country have united to support Spokane fire victims by filling a shipping container with nearly $70,000 worth of donations.
A branding company, Image Source, reached out to its vendor network and coordinated the relief effort. The donations include essential items such as blankets, portable chargers, socks, and jackets, along with backpacks filled with school supplies, lunchboxes, and water bottles.
Several Image Source employees and lots of volunteers and locals who wanted to help, including Rian Emmerson, who helped organize the donations. Emmerson said the effort came from a desire to help the community during a difficult time.
“Watching our city burn was just awful and so, I guess I’m just one of those people that steps up and you know, I didn’t get each of these donated, I reached out and these suppliers donated. But for me, it was just I want to help,” Emmerson said.
This afternoon, Image Source employees organized items and filled backpacks before preparing the shipment for distribution. The company is working with several local organizations to ensure the donations reach those in need.
There are many places the donations are being distributed through including Teen Closet, Partners Inland Northwest, and the Carl Maxey Center, three established local nonprofits serving Spokane residents.
