SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. — The Spokane County Commissioners will be hosting a planning workshop this week to speak about the pause on land use and permit applications for data centers.
The County Commissioner unanimously approved this pause until December 15. This provides time for the planning department to draft a zoning amendment for review.
It also gives the community time to make their voices heard on both the pause and drafting zone amendment.
The planning commission workshop will take place on Thursday, August 27 at 4:30 p.m. in the County Commissioner’s Hearing Room.
There will then be a public hearing concerning the pause and permit applications on September 15 in the County Commissioner’s Hearing Room at 2 p.m. Anyone testifying at the public hearing will be allowed three minutes and only be allowed to address the pause in data center land use and permit applications.
Following the public hearing, the county will have a planning commission work session on Thursday, September 17.
There will be another public hearing on the proposed data center zoning code on Thursday, October 15 at 4:30 p.m. in the County Commissioners’ hearing room.
