SPOKANE, Wash. — Yoke’s Fresh Market on West Indian Trail Road is distributing roughly $80,000 worth of free groceries and essential items to families impacted by the Spokane-area wildfires on August 18th.
The store evacuated all staff and customers within minutes on August 1 as fires threatened the area. The evacuation lasted several days. Rather than focus solely on recovery, the business decided to give back to the community.
“We just love our community. They supported us for years and now we need to do something back for them. They have been heavily impacted so we wanted to give something back to them,” said Rick Duclos, general manager at the Yoke’s location.
The products distributed came from suppliers who donated items to support the effort.
Yoke’s said it will hand out items from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. or however long supplies last.
Organizers hope the assistance helps ease the financial burden for families still recovering from the fires.
