SPOKANE, Wash. — A Spokane man was arrested for allegedly breaking into a home in Five Mile while the homeowner was evacuated during the Spokane area fires.
Lawrence C. Moss was arrested on August 13th near Northtown Mall and booked for residential burglary, according to the Spokane Police Department.
The burglary occurred between August 1st and August 8th at a Five Mile residence. The homeowner called police on August 8th to report the break-in after returning from evacuation. Officers responded and the resident provided video footage from the home’s security system, which was instrumental in identifying the suspect.
The Spokane Police Department fully staffed dedicated patrols to work within these neighborhoods. They conducted patrols by vehicle and on foot throughout the affected neighborhoods to establish a visible police presence and identify any suspicious activity.
Major Crimes Detectives were also deployed to the evacuation zones. SPD says detectives canvassed neighborhoods, made contact with homeowners and neighbors, and followed up on reports of suspicious activity and burglaries.
