SPOKANE, Wash. — A suspicious package that prompted a police response and road closures in downtown Spokane was determined not to be a bomb Wednesday.
4 News Now reports that authorities picked up the package, along with other items from the top of a trash can, and walked away with them.
The Spokane Police Department had been investigating the suspicious package after it was found on top of a trash can at the corner of Howard Street and Sprague Avenue.
Earlier, 4 News Now reported that a man had been walking around the area saying that he was “the bomb.”
Road access was closed off about a block in each direction from the intersection during the investigation.
No additional information about the package was immediately available.
