SPOKANE, Wash — The devastation from the Spokane Area Fires can be difficult for adults to comprehend but especially challenging for our kids.
KXLY’s Natalie Grant sat down with Spokane pediatrician Dr. Kat Hudon.
She shared tips on how to approach difficult topics with your children, answering questions about the fires, and giving advice to calm fears and anxieties.
“You don’t have to pretend that you’re perfect and have the answers to absolutely everything. If you say, ‘this is really scary, and I am scared too, but we’re going to get through it together’, that acknowledges that their feelings are okay. It also acknowledges that you are a team and you’re going to work through it together,” said Dr. Hudon.
