SPOKANE, Wash – Avista Utilities shut down energy to several lines in the area where a fast-moving wildfire was burning Tuesday afternoon.
The fire is in the Beacon Hill/Upriver Drive area just east of the Spokane city limits.
Avista says the incident commander on the fire asked the company to proactively de-energize three transmission lines in the area.
The company says this is common safety practice during wildfires.
It’s not related to a public safety power shutoff in the Indian Trail area that was prompted by a red flag warning.
