BOISE, Id. — The Idaho Department of Transportation’s Division of Motor Vehicles is giving its Abandoned Vehicle Portal a tune up.
The department said the improvements will make it easier for car owners to figure out where their car is when it’s been towed. It gives car owners a single place to check status, view tow-company information, and understand the next steps.
Tow companies are required to report towed vehicles within 24 hours. ITD said the requirement shortens the lag between when a vehicle is towed and when the owner can locate it online.
When vehicle owners create an online account at dmv.idaho.com, they are given the option to enroll in e-notifications that alert them to towing notices and DMV reminders.
