ST. MARIES — St. Maries High School was placed in lockdown Wednesday morning after an unknown male caller threatened to bring weapons and pipe bombs to the campus.
The Benewah County Sheriff’s Office received the call at approximately 9:30 a.m. Deputies and St. Maries City Police responded and conducted a thorough search of school grounds. Nothing threatening or suspicious was found, and the lockdown was lifted.
One deputy remained at the school for precautionary monitoring. Law enforcement also visited the middle school and elementary school campuses.
The Benewah County Sheriff’s Office is investigating to identify the caller.
