SEATTLE, Wash. – The Seattle Kraken will lose an executive who has been with the franchise since its inception.
Ron Francis, the first general manager of the Kraken, will step down at the end of the 2025-26 NHL regular season.
Francis helped Seattle pick the ‘Kraken’ name, oversaw the creation of the AHL affiliate Coachella Valley Firebirds, and helped select Seattle’s original 2021 roster.
According to Seattle, the decision was mutual, and current general manager Jason Botterill will lead operations as the Kraken’s executive vice president, and he’ll remain the general manager.
