INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Michigan Wolverines rode the wave of one of the most dominant March Madness runs in history to clinch their second program national title with a 69-63 win over the Connecticut Huskies.
Elliot Cadeau won the Final Four Most Valuable Player, showcasing Michigan’s transfer-heavy roster. UM is the first program to win a national championship with an entire transfer starting five.
The Wolverines are the first Big Ten team with a men’s basketball national title win since Michigan State in 2000.
Michigan’s win, combined with Indiana’s in football and UCLA’s in women’s basketball, gives the Big Ten the first single-conference sweep of titles.
