PRINCE GEORGE, B.C. – The Spokane Chiefs stumbled in a crushing third period, falling 6-3 to open the WHL Western Quarterfinals at the Prince George Cougars.
The Chiefs opened the game up 3-1 at the end of the first period, Assanali Sarkenov, Owen Martin and Sam Oremba all scoring.
Prince George then scored five-straight goals, rallying for a 3-0 third period. They scored three power play goals, no surprise for one of the best special teams units in the league.
Spokane now readies for Game 2 of the series tomorrow at 6:00 p.m. back at CN Centre.
