SPOKANE, Wash. — Who says hospitals can’t be a place for celebration?
Providence St. Luke’s Rehabilitation Medical Center celebrated Betty Adams’ 100th birthday on Saturday with friends, family, and the St. Luke’s Community.
Adams was part of the first cadet school of nursing at St. Luke’s. After graduation, she worked at the hospital in pediatrics and the psych unit.
She continued to build a legacy, serving as the president of the Nursing School Alumni, and later creating a historical wall for the School of Nursing.
Even after Adams retired in the 80s, she continued to volunteer.
Saturday’s party had been planned for a while. Betty began sending out RSVP’s for her birthday eight months ago.
“Her contributions have shaped St. Luke’s in countless ways,” said Nancy Webster, St. Luke’s Chief Operating Officer. “She has enriched our community and will continue to inspire generations to come.”
