SANTA CLARA, Calif – Seahawks fans breathed a collective sigh of relief Thursday when Seahawks Head Coach Mike Macdonald said safety Nick Emmanwori won’t miss Sunday’s Super Bowl with an ankle injury.
Emmanwori hurt his ankle in practice earlier this week.
Macdonald joked with reporters Thursday at his press conference, saying “There’s no way the first question is going to be about Nick, is it?”
He then said the team is being overly careful, but he’s confident Emmanwori will be able to play.
The rookie played a key role in getting the Seahawks to Sunday’s Super Bowl.
He’s had 81 tackles, 2.5 sacks an interception and 11 pass break-ups.
Emmanwori told reporters said it was a “mishap” with his ankle but said “I’m good now.”
He said he felt “super relieved” when the training staff told him he’ll be able to play.
“I’ll be good to go.”
