GRANT COUNTY, Wash. — The Grant County Health District is reporting a flu-related death marking the 74th in the state this season.
According to GCHD, the individual was in their 50s with underlying health conditions.
The district says flu activity is high in the area with approximately 6% of emergency department visits being related to the flu. That’s four times the typical flu activity.
“We are deeply saddened by the loss of a community member to the flu. Our hearts are with the family and friends who are grieving,” said Grant County Health Officer Dr. Alexander Brzezny. “With high flu activity in our area, we encourage everyone to take care of themselves and others by staying up to date on the flu vaccine, staying home when you are sick, and staying informed.”
