SPOKANE, Wash. — A new police chief has been sworn into office for Spokane on Monday at the Tribal Gathering Place.
Chief Hall is a U.S. Air Force veteran with more than 30 years of experience with the Tucson Police Department.
In Arizona, he helped expand mental health support teams in Tucson to include a substance use response team and a homeless outreach team.
“I absolutely adore this city and I plan on giving it 100% of everything I do for as long as I’m here, and as long as Spokane will have me,” Hall said.
Hall is credited with creating innovative programs in community-based policing and expanding programs for substance abuse help and homeless outreach during his 32 years in Tucson.
He said he is ready to bring new ideas to Spokane, including expanding the area’s crisis stabilization center, which offers medical, mental health, and substance use treatment.
“The fact that Eastern Washington doesn’t have a robust crisis continuum of care surrounding a crisis stabilization center is something we can work on and rectify quickly,” Hall said.
Hall aims to continue the department’s mission of making Spokane a safe place for everyone who lives, works, or visits the city.
Mike McNab, assistant chief of the Spokane Police Department, noted Hall’s variety of experience in different departments, including homicide, SWAT, and numerous leadership positions.
“I have been looking forward to Chief Hall’s arrival and am thrilled to welcome him to the City of Spokane. I am confident his leadership will strengthen our police force and look forward to the positive impact he will bring as we work together for the well-being of our community,” Mayor Lisa Brown said.
