PULLMAN, Wash. — From the Palouse to the Big Apple, an employee at Washington State University and her dog will be competing at one of the most popular dog shows in the world.
WSU veterinary technician Denise Waiting and her Cardigan Welsh Corgi, Witton, will compete in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show.
Waiting and Witton will be up against 13 other Cardigan Welsh Corgis for best in breed. If they win, they’ll compete against other herding dogs.
According to WSU, Waiting previously competed in the show 15 years ago. Waiting has been working at WSU’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital since 1999.
“Win or lose, I always feel like I take home the best dog, but if she were to win best in breed at Westminster that would really complete our year,” Waiting said. “It’s not just another dog show, it’s the top dogs of all breeds around the country.”
The Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show is happening through February 3 at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
