MOSCOW, Idaho — A Moscow couple and one of their fathers have been convicted in the kidnapping of a Pullman baby and running away to Mexico in 2024.
Aaron Aung was wanted by law enforcement when he did not return his daughter to her biological mother after visitation in violation of court orders in May 2024.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Aung and his fiancé Nadia Cole had fled with the child to Mexico on June 1, 2024.
While in Mexico, it was determined Aung was communicating with his father, Jaimes Aung, about the investigation and how to avoid law enforcement.
Aaron Aung and Cole were located by Mexican authorities, arrested and deported in July 2024. The child was reunited with her lawful parent in Whitman County.
Aaron and Jaimes Aung were found guilty in a bench trial of international parental kidnapping and conspiracy. Cole pled guilty to international parental kidnapping.
All three will be sentenced on March 25, 2026.
“The United States takes very seriously the safety and security of our community’s children,” said First Assistant United States Attorney Pete Serrano. “Cases involving a missing child are our top priority. Jaimes Aung, Aaron Aung, and Nadia Cole made the dangerous decision to kidnap a child to Mexico in violation of a custody order, demonstrating the lengths they went to willingly circumvent the court process.”
