DEER PARK, Wash. — A Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputy was stabbed in the chest while responding to a welfare call on Thursday afternoon, according to SCSO.
Around 4:30 p.m. on August 22, SCSO deputies responded to a call of woman behaving erratically, walking up and down the street and through front yards near Dalton Road and Wild Rose Road in Deer Park.
When deputies arrived, they found the woman and requested emergency assistance.
Soon after, SCSO said the woman was taken into custody and transported for medical evaluation.
SCSO then reported that during the welfare call, a deputy was stabbed in the upper left chest and began bleeding heavily.
He was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
Spokane Police Department is assisting SCSO with the investigation.
