PULLMAN, Wash. – It’s rivalry week again for Washington State.
The Cougars return home with plenty at stake as Oregon State heads to Pullman for Saturday’s matchup. WSU enters the week looking to regroup after a road loss to JMU, a game the Cougars led 17-10 at halftime before momentum flipped in the second half.
“Disappointing loss, it felt a little bit like groundhog day in the sense of being so close,” Head Coach Jimmy Rogers said. “First a really good team that JMU team is a really good football team. We hung with them the whole game, in a game that we should’ve won and we believe that.”
With the setback behind them, WSU shifts their focus to the final home game of regular season.
“Level of gratitude to these seniors, a certain level of spirit of how they practice,” Rogers said. “They have the week off this week as far as school, so making sure they’re doing all the little things to give their best to the team, I think is extremely important.”
Saturday’s game brings high stakes: a win would secure bowl eligibility. Oregon State and Washington State faced off earlier this season in Corvallis; the rematch shifts to Pullman and the Cougars have the chance to answer back in front of their home crowd.
“Those that follow Washington State know how important this is to our players,” Rogers said. “Hopefully they show up in the right capacity to cheer us on.”
Washington State will host the Oregon State Beavers on Saturday November 29 at 3:30 p.m.
