SPOKANE, Wash. — The Whitworth Pirates hosted the Chapman Panthers in the first round of the NCAA DIII football playoffs. From the opening quarter the game was tight, but Chapman gained an early advantage via turnovers.
Chapman scored early but Whitworth responded closely, the Panthers led 9-7 at the half.
Back and forth scoring from both teams led the score to be 18-16, the Pirates trailing by two.
Whitworth attempted a two-point conversion, but it was knocked away by Chapman’s defense and ended the game.
