Spokane, WASH — The Together Spokane initiative passed after the final votes were tallied on Monday.
In the end, 61.82% of voters are in favor of the $200 million, 20-year school bond. That passed the 60% of votes needed to pass it.
The parks levy received a 55.86% ‘yes’ to approve the $240 million, 20-year proposal.
The Spokane County Auditor Vicky Dalton says the final ballots were counted on Monday, but there could be a “very small handful” from military members overseas to be tallied if they were postmarked in time. The election will be certified on November 25th.
The $440 million Together Spokane bond and levy package is a ballot measure jointly proposed by Spokane Public Schools and Spokane Parks and Recreation Department.
The plan promises to fund more than 200 projects throughout the city over the next 20 years.
The Parks Department said a majority of the levy funding would go toward renovating and replacing existing park assets, with the rest of the funding going toward improving park safety, daily maintenance and filling gaps in service. Every park bathroom would either be rebuilt or renovated.

In all, 44.01% of eligible voters took part in the school bond vote.
