SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Valley firefighters prevented property damage Wednesday evening by using a tow strap to pull a burning dumpster away from a commercial building, according to the fire department.
Fire officials said, at approximately 7:35 p.m., crews responded to a fire in the Spokane Industrial Park. An employee reported flames in an appliance crusher attached to the building.
Firefighters determined the fire was contained to a dumpster connected to the appliance compactor, according to SVFD. Crews observed smoke entering the building.
Firefighters attached a tow strap to the burning dumpster and used the Safety Officer’s truck to pull it away from the compactor, isolating the flames, fire officials said.
SVFD investigators determined the fire was unintentional but could not establish an exact cause due to compacted evidence.
No injuries were reported.
